Registering to fly a drone in Ireland?

Do I Need To Register To Fly My Drone In Ireland?

This a very common question and one that causes lots of confusion.

Under the current EASA regulations, you must register as a drone operator if your drone is over 250g or has a camera. Many people discard the end of the sentence but basically if your drone has a camera, and is not a toy, you do have to register as an operator.

This does not include toy drones.

You no longer register the drone; you register as an operator of the drone.

Some popular examples of drones that you do have to register as an operator for include

  • DJI  Mini and Mini 2
  • DJI Mini 3 Pro
  • DJI Air / Air 2S
  • DJI Mavic Series – Mavic Pro / Pro 2 / Zoom / Mavic 3
  • DJI FPV and Avata
Complete the registration on the IAA MySRS site: https://iaa.mysrs.ie/auth/sign-up
You will also need to complete some online training and a short test. You will then receive your A1/A3 Open Category Certificate.
